A tragic event unfolded in Sirsa village, Greater Noida, where a woman was allegedly murdered by her husband, who reportedly set her on fire due to dowry disputes. This shocking occurrence took place on August 21, and disturbing footage captured the victim, Nikki, descending the stairs engulfed in flames after being brutally assaulted by her husband and in-laws.
Nikki, who wed Vipin in 2016, faced severe abuse shortly after her marriage. Her elder sister, Kanchan, who is also part of the same family, lodged a police report against her in-laws, accusing them of physical violence and demanding a dowry of Rs 36 lakh just six months post-wedding.
Social media videos depicted Vipin, shirtless and with another woman, violently dragging Nikki by her hair, with visible blood on his body. Other clips showed Nikki in flames, struggling to escape her horrific situation.
Initially taken to Fortis Hospital in Noida, Nikki was later transferred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries en route. Vipin has been apprehended, and a case has been filed against his family members, including his mother, brother, father, and sister, under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Kanchan recounted the torment they endured, stating, 'We were subjected to constant abuse. They claimed they did not receive adequate dowry during the wedding and demanded Rs 36 lakh from us. I was also assaulted during the early hours of Thursday. They threatened me, saying, 'We have received dowry for one sister; what about the other? You would be better off dead. We will remarry.' I was beaten multiple times and was disoriented throughout the day.'
